About Unconfined the Project
It is uncommon to unite art and fashion with community activism. Unconfined the Project is a student-led organization based in San Diego, California. Since summer 2020, our designers take inspiration from our community, and we print their original design on products such as apparel and stickers, benefiting the artists and highlighting the importance of art education.
With a team of young entrepreneurs, artists, photographers, and future CEOs, from the summer alone, we have managed to raise hundreds of dollars for charities such as San Diego Foundations.
Our plan is to donate our profits to organizations such as San Diego Foundation that focuses on benefitting our community or those focused on providing art education. With our recent free art workshops and monthly art project publications, we aim to not only benefitting the community through volunteerism, but also helping young adults find their voices and stances through written or artistic expressions.
Through showcasing unique perceptions of art and sharing personal experiences, we aim to inspire creative minds of today’s youth.
Unconfined means not being restricted to a limited space. We recognize our fellow students’ artistic talents, and we wish to amplify the power of the young generation’s creativity to make changes and spread positivity in our community and beyond.
About Our Teams
Art Projects Team
Currently, the Art Project Team is centered around creating art based on monthly topics. We brainstorm ideas that resonate with us, ranging from societal and worldly issues to personal topics. Overall, the Art Project Team provides individuals with a platform and large community for self-expression as well as the opportunity to build a portfolio. In the past, we designed the art used in a Winter Clothing Line, hosted online art workshops, and participated in various art-related collaborations.
Promo & Media Team
The Promo/Media team runs Unconfined’s main social media platforms (Instagram and TikTok), posting and promoting infographics and art projects created by Unconfined’s artists. The team is composed of social media managers, communications representatives, and video editors who publicize Unconfined in innovative ways. The team also coordinates with media outlets and partner organizations to expand Unconfined’s mission of activism through art.
The WeChat Outreach Team mainly focuses on promotions and outreach activities of Unconfined the Project on Chinese social media platforms like WeChat. Every month, we would write, translate, and publish original articles––topics include monthly-themed art project showcase, current events and art’s relationships with aspects of American society––on our WeChat Official Subscription Account (UNCONFINED无所约束). During the recruitment period, we would also reach out to potential applicants. Members of the team are expected to have fluency in both English and Chinese (mandarin) writing.
The main purpose of the infographics team is to write informational pieces of writing aimed to educate the community on topics that are prevalent and important today. Every month we focus on different concentrations such as climate change, racial justice and more. We also occasionally write articles for the blog on our website and on medium.
The Graphic Team is mainly in charge of designing promotional graphics, as well as showcasing art projects, infographics, and other content to audiences on our social media platforms. Every month, we collaborate with other teams to organize all of the information/projects and create visually appealing graphics to help spread our message to the community.
